What Drives Your Flow?

I've always hated running.

So what the heck!?
Why am I pausing briefly in the middle of my huffing and puffing to tell you how much I'm loving it?

I found a coach. Granted, he's virtual, and I've never met him, and he has no idea who I am or even how much I've despised this sport.

But he says go, I go.
He says faster, I pick it up.
He says awesome, and my heart feels the benefits of private validation.

It wasn't like this two weeks ago. Some of the other Peleton coaches drove me crazy...left me feeling irritable and wanting my own space and musical interlude. But with this Andy guy, it feels so good.
What he says, and how he says it, is just the right amount of right.

But it's not just about feelings, right?
While they serve to motivate and connect us to purpose, it's also about skill-building.

Run tall.
Tuck your tail.
Take a nose breath.
Shake your shoulders.
Scan your body.
Smell the air.

Be. here. now.
His approach aligns with my values.

I'm here. We do this together.
He soothes my inner need to feel partnership.

It's not easy, don't get me wrong. My body still hurts and it's definitely still work. But it's easier work, and in many ways, it's even feeling fun…

My heart rate is slowing; it's time to get back to it before I lose my oomph.

But here's why I stopped:
This isn't about him. Or me.

It's about you, knowing yourself, creating enough self-awareness to know and feed what drives you.

And so I ask and wonder:
What do you need to really dive in, to find motivation for what's been holding you back and stopping the flow?

What resonates?
What grates?
What would make the work in your day transform, even momentarily, into play?
